50: If everything that exists, or ever did, or ever will, has a preceding cause, then man has no free will. Right?

Humans have no free will outside of the moment. Humans have free will in the moment. Actually, this is part of the reason why, although there are higher dimensions (in number NOT in value, we spend too much effort placing value on things, this disguises their nature by limiting them to a linear comparison) our consciousness is generally focused here, in the 4th dimension - where we exist in the present and our mind defines/divides into past, present, and future, just like the way you phrased the question. Our consciousness is generally here because the now is the only place that allows change. The universe is about change. That’s why so many philosophers talk about ‘living in the now’ because that is the way to live WITH the flow of the universe.

That’s why your question is so tricky, it is only correct in retrospect. Take the current moment as an example; if you move to the future, then you have no free will in THAT moment - the one that you’re now looking back on. There is no free will in the past. The current moment is the past of the future. Do you see the paradox? I hope everyone reading this can understand the importance of the now, the importance of us all. Increasing the number of ‘us’ does not reduce our value, that’s thinking that needs to be evolved. We all share equal power of the now and all of us are changing the universe with every thought and action.

Now, let’s look at the future. The future is NEVER predetermined with respect to the now. The moment that you witness the future, your perspective changes to the present of that moment. If you then go back, you’re actually traveling backward through time and changing the future! Now, let’s say that your computer monitor allowed you to see into the future. Let’s pretend it can see and display what you’re going to do 10 minutes before it happens. What time will it show you shutting off the program? What ever that monitor is going to show you, can be changed. Beautiful right? The moment you witness the future you can change it. In the present, you can always change it! Everything that has happened has happened with respect to the present. Nothing that can happen has happened yet with respect to the present.

We have freewill and always will, as long as we can say the word “I”. The future is always ahead of us, so let’s all live the moment in a way that unfolds the future we desire!!

Ed.[After looking at your question again I began to wonder if I addressed it specific enough. You asked if we have no free will BECAUSE of preceding cause. I would say specific to that, that we were designed with egos for the purpose of free will, free expression, and free observation... Or the ‘cause’ of our ego/us, results in the ‘effect’ of our free will.]
